# The $KYTE token

The protocol token: staking rewards and buy-and-burn.

`$KYTE` is the protocol token of Kyte. It does two things in the protocol:

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Staking</strong></td><td>StakingPool to receive 30% of protocol fees, in WETH, every epoch.</td><td><a href="/protocol/staking.md">Staking mechanics</a></td><td><a href="https://996751035-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FVsnNtaBRxeClOSpEHWrf%2Fuploads%2FokqQfp6ugTh0QhnbilVG%2Fcard-token-stake.jpg?alt=media">card-token-stake.jpg</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Buy-and-burn</strong></td><td>20% of all fees buy <code>$KYTE</code> and burn it in the same transaction.</td><td><a href="/protocol/revenue.md">Revenue and buyback</a></td><td><a href="https://996751035-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FVsnNtaBRxeClOSpEHWrf%2Fuploads%2F07YfpDJoffbXuY46ho2V%2Fcard-token-burn.jpg?alt=media">card-token-burn.jpg</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

### Utility

`$KYTE` is how holders share in Kyte's growth. Two utilities are built into the contracts from launch, and more are planned for stakers and holders as Kyte adds markets and products.

#### Live at launch

| Utility          | How it works                                                                                                                                                                                             |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Fee share** | Stake `$KYTE` in the StakingPool and receive **30% of protocol fees**, in WETH, every epoch. The share is set by the timelock and can never go below 20%. See [Staking mechanics](/protocol/staking.md). |
| **Buy-and-burn** | **20% of protocol fees** buy `$KYTE` on Uniswap v4 and burn it in the same transaction. Every burn is listed on [the Proof page](/guides/proof.md). |

#### As Kyte grows

| Utility | Status | What it means for holders |
| -------------------------- | --------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Early access** | Planned | Stakers are first to new markets, listings and features on kyte.sh, before they open to everyone. |
| **Yield strategies** | Planned | Priority access to automated covered-call and cash-secured put strategies, built on the same fully collateralised markets. |
| **Holder perks** | Exploring | Benefits for stakers when they trade on Kyte, such as reduced fees. |
| **A voice in what's next** | Exploring | Holder input on which tokens and products Kyte adds next. |

{% hint style="info" %}
**Planned** and **exploring** items are not live yet. Each one will be announced by [@useKyte](https://x.com/useKyte) and documented on this page, with its exact rules, before it goes live. Utility means access to Kyte's features, not a promise of returns.
{% endhint %}

### Launch

`$KYTE` launches on [Pons](https://ponsfamily.com), the token launchpad on Robinhood Chain, paired with ETH.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**The official contract address is published only here and by** [**@useKyte**](https://x.com/useKyte) **on X.** Always check it against both before you buy. Any other address is not the official `$KYTE` token.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.kyte.sh/token/kyte.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
